Emeritus Professor John Finlay-Jones:
Emeritus Professor John Finlay-Jones is Chair of the Perron Institute’s Research Strategy Committee and has a wealth of experience in microbiology and immunology, and oncology. His commitment spans leadership roles within Western Australia and nationally, like chairing the Scientific Advisory Committee of The Australian Centre for HIV and Hepatitis Virology Research. Professor John Finlay-Jones is also dedicated to building a robust research culture in Australia, underscored through his pro bono mentorship with Research Coaching Australia and commitment to research integrity with the Australian Research Integrity Committee. He is especially interested in medical education, having worked at Flinders University’s School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences for 25 years. In that time he contributed to the development and delivery of the Flinders graduate-entry medicine program, and made Flinders one of the first 3 Universities in Australia to move to a 4-year graduate-entry program. We give special thanks to Emeritus Professor Finlay-Jones for his great assistance in the Young Doctors Essay Competition.

Dr. David Blacker AM:
Dr. David Blacker is a Specialist Physician in Neurology and a true luminary in cerebrovascular medicine. He has recently retired from clinical practice after 30 years at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he established the acute stroke team and helped to build the hospital into one of the busiest interventional stroke centres in Australia. He spearheaded the FIGHT-PD study, underscoring his dedication to guiding and enhancing the lives of people with Parkinson's disease. Dr. David Blacker has also been recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King’s Birthday 2023 Honours. We are very excited to welcome Clinical Professor David Blacker as a judge for the Young Doctors Essay Competition with his wealth of compassion and expertise.

Dr. You Ling:
Dr. You Ling is a Specialist Physician in Cardiology, standing as a distinguished figure in the realm of Internal Medicine. She serves as a Master's Degree Supervisor at Hebei Medical University and consistently contributes her expertise to the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, particularly in the field of Cardiovascular Internal Medicine. Her clinical focus encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of diverse cardiovascular conditions, especially in the intervention treatments for rapid and slow heart rhythm disorders. Dr. Ling also plays an active role in professional societies, holding key positions such as Secretary-General of the Biomedical Engineering Society's Arrhythmia Branch in Hebei. Her research contributions are underscored by a notable publication record, including recognition in SCI-indexed journals and having been honoured with two first prizes for the Hebei Provincial Medical Association's Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ling as a judge for the Young Doctors Essay Competition.

Dr. Liu Demin:
Dr. Liu Demin is a Specialist Physician in Cardiology and Deputy Chief Physician of the First Department of Cardiology in the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University. Dr. Liu brings a wealth of clinical experience to Cardiovascular Internal Medicine, demonstrating particular proficiency in the intervention treatment of rapid and slow heart rhythm disorders, as well as coronary interventions. Beyond her clinical role, Dr. Liu actively engages in medical societies, holding leadership roles in the Hebei Medical Association. With over twenty research papers to her credit, eight of which have been recognized in SCI-indexed journals, Dr. Liu stands as a beacon of excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine. Her research encompasses a wide spectrum, ranging from rapid heart rhythm ablation procedures to the implantation of pacemakers for slow heart rhythm disorders. We are honoured to announce Dr. Liu participation as a judge for the Young Doctors Essay Competition.
